How To Apply
The four steps
- Apply lotion over the whole body from the ears all the way down to the soles of the feet.
- Leave on overnight or for at least twelve hours.
- Wash off the next morning.
- One application will be adequate to cure scabies, but a second treatment is recommended after one week.
It is essential that all contacts are treated at the same time to prevent re-infestation.
Application checklist
- Apply at bedtime to clean, dry, cool skin.
- Do not miss between the fingers and toes, under the nails, the wrists, armpits, groin and skin folds.
- Infants, the elderly and the immunosuppressed should also have the face and scalp treated.
- Reapply to the hands if you wash them during the treatment period.
- Put on freshly washed clothing after washing the lotion off.
- Wash bedding, towels and recently worn clothing in hot water the same morning.
What to expect afterwards
Itching can continue for two to four weeks after successful treatment. This is your immune system reacting to the dead mites and their debris — it is not treatment failure. Seek advice if itching worsens after four weeks, if new burrows appear, or if new household members develop symptoms.
